Kira has been performing her whole life. She started dancing at age four. She has studied tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and pointe at Studio West for 15 years, competing in regional dance competitions – winning numerous awards.
Kira also has a strong background in gymnastics, training and competing for 8 years at West Side Gymnastics. In addition to her dance and gymnastics experience, Kira also studied piano for 10 years.
A member of the Honors College and Presidential Scholar at Kent State University, as a freshman musical theater major, Kira played the lead role of Velma Kelly in the production of “Chicago” and received the award for “Musical Theater Student of the Year” as well as “Dancer of the Year” (2001). Kira studied modern dance for two years at Kent State with Tommy Parlon, Kim Karpanty, and Chung Fu Chang. She was also chosen to be a part of the Dance 2002 Concert in John Crawford’s “Miss Manners”. She performed as the saucy Havana Dancer and Hot Box Girl in the KSU production of “Guys and Dolls” and has also played the role of Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” and the Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.
Kira is also an aspiring singer-songwriter. Her band, The Strange Familiar, has been featured on shows like Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and Secret Life of the American Teenager. She reached the Top 48 as contestants in season 5 of America’s Got Talent. Artists such as Orianthi and Ashlee Simpson have performed her original songs. She has shared the stage with several national acts such as Bon Jovi, Sugar Ray, Maroon 5 and many more.
She cantors at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls, and has been an active member of “Shantigarh” the contemporary choir at St. Bernardine of Sienna in Woodland Hills, CA. She’s excited to be back in Ohio and teaching at Studio west!
